USA-UK is pleased to announce their European Championship Show & May Festival for the Horse - catering for all foreign breeds. The 2009 USA-UK British National Championships are held at Equifest (South of England Showground, Peterborough) on 23rd August.

CHANGES TO THE SADDLEBRED PERFORMANCE CHAMPIONSHIP 2010
In 2010, our European Saddlebred Performance Championships will be held in the middle of the day.
This is to encourage greater participation and to allow the audience to see the best of what the UK can offer.
Saddlebreds will need to have competed and qualified during 2009 in order to take part.
In addition, horses must be (or become) USA-UK registered and owned and shown by USA-UK members to take part in the 2010 Performance Championships (registration/membership NOT required for class entry at the show, just Championship entry).
 

To Qualify:
Horses must have competed and been placed (1st - 6th) in any Saddlebred class at USA-UK approved shows during 2009.
These include:
2009 Bucks Fizz Show (April) - Ridden Saddlebred class
2009 USA-UK May Festival Show - Saddlebred Hunter, Pinto Saddlebred Hunter, Saddlebred Western, Saddlebred 3-Gaited Country Pleasure, Saddlebred 5-Gaited and Saddlebred 3-Gaited classes
2009 BMHS Spring Show - Saddlebred Hunter, Saddlebred Western, Saddlebred 3-Gaited Country Pleasure, Saddlebred 5-Gaited and Saddlebred 3-Gaited classes
2009 Saddlebred Gala Show - all ridden classes
2009 APHS Show - Ridden Saddlebred class
2009 Equifest - all ridden Saddlebred classes
2009 BSPA World Championship of Colour - Ridden Saddlebred class
2009 Royal London Show - Ridden Saddlebred class
Horse must be (or become) USA-UK registered and be owned and shown by a USA-UK member in order to take part in the 2010 European Performance Championships.
IMPORTED HORSES can qualify in their own country during 2009, by competing and being placed in any Saddlebred class at A rated shows in their own country.

This is the PROPOSED SCHEDULE for 2010 - open to suggestions and amendments.
Some classes have been amalgamated or changed to assist with the running order of the show.
The wording for what was the Iberian classes is as per the request of the Andalusian Horse Society.

 

IN HAND CLASSES – 9am start
Classes 1 – 8 open to Purebreds only.
1.   Morgans
– 3yrs & under.
2.   Morgans – 4yrs & over.                        Classes 1 & 2 will be judged together but pinned separately.
3.  Saddlebreds
– 1 & 2 year olds.
4.  Saddlebreds – 3 – 6yrs old.
5.  Saddlebreds – 7yrs & over.                Classes 3, 4 & 5 may be judged together but pinned separately and will incorporate: C1  Saddlebred In Hand Championship
6.  Appaloosas
– any age.
7.   Spanish & Lusitano
– 3yrs & under.
8.   Spanish & Lusitano – 4yrs & over.    Classes 7 & 8 will be judged together but pinned separately.

Classes 9 – 12 open to Pure or partbreds.

HUNTER CLASSES:   Hunter Pleasure – traditional English tack, snaffle, Pelham or double bridle (similar to Riding Horse, Show Hunter or Show Cob classes). To be shown at walk, trot (working), medium / extended trot, canter and hand gallop. No individual show required in hunter classes, except class 24.

RIDDEN CLASSES
17.   Baby Green
– First year of showing under saddle. Any breed, any tack, including training. Walk and trot only.
18. Limit Hunter Any breed, not to have won more than 6 hunter pleasure classes.
19. Novice Spanish & Lusitano English tack, snaffle bridle, not to have won more than 2 ridden Spanish / Lusitano classes. Pure or partbred.
20. Saddlebred Hunter Pleasure
21. Morgan Hunter Pleasure
22. Ridden Skewbald & Piebald    
English tack, any breed.
23. Amateur Rider Hunter Pleasure     Any breed

25. Road Hack. Hunt seat or saddle seat, any breed. To be shown at walk, trot, extended trot, canter & hand gallop. Will be asked to halt on the rail and walk off on a loose rein.
26. Appaloosa Hunter Pleasure

C4   Hunter Championship. 1st & 2nd from classes 18 – 24, 26, 27 & the highest placed hunt seat horse from class 25.

LUNCH

28. Concour’s D’Elegance In hand or ridden, walk only, period or traditional dress – judged purely on turnout. Any breed.
29. Paso Fino Pleasure Horse should be a pleasure to ride, calm & responsive and gaits should be performed evenly & consistently.
30. Spanish & Lusitano Parade Spanish or Portuguese tack, pure or partbred. Come and strut your stuff – emulate the atmosphere of the Golega Fair where horses parade for the audience, giving you the chance to show off your horse in the most entertaining way. Enter on left rein.
C5   Spanish & Lusitano Championship. 1st & 2nd from classes 19, 24 & 30.

C6 Saddlebred European Ridden Championship
Open to all Saddlebreds who have been placed in ridden Saddlebred classes in USA-UK approved shows during 2009.  Indication of entry in this class MUST be made on entry form (in advance) in order to take part.

USA-UK Gold Level SASH award presentation will be held after this championship – all those eligible please remain in the ring.

WESTERN CLASSES: Western horses may be shown 2 handed in a snaffle/hackamore/bosal or 1 handed in a curb bit. To be shown at walk, jog and lope. Extended jog and extended lope can be asked for in the Amateur and Open classes.

31. Gaited Open Breed For any breed that has a lateral gait (other than walk) – enter on left rein in your horse’s slowest lateral gait (or running walk/trot if he only has one lateral gait) and then proceed to his faster gait when “gait on” is called. (E.g. Corto then largo, slow gait then rack).
32. Limit Western Pleasure     Not to have won more than 6 classes in western pleasure. Any breed.
33. Saddlebred & Morgan Western Pleasure
34. Open Breed 3-Gaits   
To be shown in walk, “gait” and canter.
35. Amateur Rider Western Pleasure Any breed.
36 Open Western Pleasure Any breed.        Classes 35 & 36 will be judged together but pinned separately
37. Paso Fino Performance    Like Pleasure (class 29), but horse to show more spirit & collection in the execution of his gaits.
38. Western Horsemanship Any breed, pattern to be ridden first and then top horses to show back on the rail at walk, jog & lope.
39. Saddlebred 5-Gaited Pleasure
C6  Western Championship.
1st & 2nd from classes 32, 33, 35 & 36.

40. Saddlebred 3-Gaited Park & Morgan Park Saddle
Shown at park walk, park trot & canter. Pads & weights (to 16oz) allowed. To be ridden saddle seat.
41. Morgan Classic Pleasure Saddle
42. Saddlebred 3G Country Pleasure    
Classes 41 & 42 will be judged together but pinned separately. Entries should be plain shod (no pads) and shown by amateurs only, to be ridden saddle seat. Shown at flat walk, trot, extended trot & canter.
43. Morgan Pleasure Saddle.
44. Saddlebred 3-Gaited Pleasure Shown at flat or animated walk, trot & canter & to be ridden saddle seat.
45. Natural Gaiters Open to any gaited breed. Will be asked to gait on a loose rein to demonstrate a natural gait.
46. Amateur Rider Saddle Seat Pleasure.
47. Open Saddle Seat Pleasure    
Classes 46 & 47 open to any breed and  will be judged together but pinned separately and to be ridden saddle seat.

C7 Gaited Championship. 1st & 2nd from classes 29, 31, 34, 37, 39 & 45.
C8 Saddle Seat Championship. 1st & 2nd from classes 40 – 44, 46, 47 & highest placed saddle seat horse from class 25.
C9 - Supreme Ridden Championship - for all champions & reserves from C2 to C8.

It is a condition of entry that all exhibitors agree to abide by the rules & regulations of USA-UK and the showground. Riders are advised to wear a BHS secured safety hat at all times when mounted. Should ADULT riders wish to wear traditional non-safety headgear they must sign to indicate they are aware of our safety policy and choose not to follow it. This will be entirely at their own risk and the Organisers will not be responsible in anyway for any incident that arises from such actions. All junior riders (under 18) MUST wear a safety hat in all classes. All exhibitors should have adequate third party insurance for themselves and their animals.
